Health-Related Scholarships

Believing that the strength of an institution lies in dedicated and well-trained staff, a scholarship program has been created through CAHO for national staff of affiliated hospitals.  Qualified candidates are selected by the institution, and required to commit to minimum service after completion of their studies.  Scholarships have included advanced nursing training, administration and accounting, specialty training for pediatrics and surgery, chaplain training, and medical students at national universities.

Kibogora Hospital Sponsor-a-Bed Program

In partnership with our United Kingdom sister organization, the Kibogora Initiative (www.kibogora.org), the Sponsor-a-Bed Program provides supplemental operating funds for Kibogora Hospital at several donor levels.  The hospital is committed to care for all patients who have need regardless of ability to pay.  As costs exceed the capacity of the population served, this challenge can only be met with the ongoing donations of Kibogora supporters.

Specific hospital support and projects

Varied projects are ongoing at all 4 of the current CAHO-affiliated hospitals:  Kibogora Hospital, Rwanda; Nundu Hospital, Congo; Kibuye Hospital, Burundi; and Dessalines Hospital, Haiti.  Individuals interested in specific projects are encouraged to contact us directly.

Operations Costs

CAHO is committed to ensure that 100% of designated donor funds are used for the project specified, and administrative fees are not taken from donations.   As a volunteer organization, CAHO does not have paid staff, but depends on the many hours of committed volunteers.  CAHO welcomes donations to the general operating fund from donors who believe in the mission of the Central Africa Health Care Organization, and understand the administrative support required.
